2012 SUZUKI GSX-R600 Recall

Item Affected: SERVICE BRAKES

Date Announced: 10/18/2013

Description of Recall: Suzuki Motor of America, Inc. (Suzuki) is recalling certain model year 2004-2013 GSX-R600 and GSX-R750, and model year 2005-2013 GSX-R1000 motorcycles. In combination with older brake fluid, corrosion of the brake piston inside of the front brake master cylinder generates gas that may result in a reduction of fluid pressure transmission to the front brake.

Conequence: As a result, front braking power may be reduced increasing the risk of a crash.

Action Need To Fix It: Suzuki will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front brake master cylinder, free of charge. The recall began on November 18, 2013. Owners may contact Suzuki at 1-800-572-1490. Suzuki's campaign numbers for this recall are: 2A (31, 32, 33, 34, 35, and 36).

Date Announced: 05/20/1999

Description of Recall: VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MOTORCYCLES. THE CAM CHAIN TENSION ADJUSTER DOES NOT PROVIDE CONSISTENT TENSION TO THE CAM CHAIN IN THE ENGINE CAUSING ABNORMAL ENGINE SOUNDS.

Conequence: THIS COULD LEAD TO CAM CHAIN BREAKAGE OR OVER SEVERE ENGINE DAMAGE. IT COULD ALSO CAUSE SUDDEN ENGINE FAILURE.

Action Need To Fix It: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE ORIGINAL CAM CHAIN TENSION ADJUSTER AND UPPER CAM CHAIN GUIDE NO. 2 WITH A REVISED CAM CHAIN TENSION ADJUSTER AND UPPER CAM CHAIN GUIDE NO. 2. THE DEALER WILL INSPECT AND MAY REPLACE OTHER ENGINE COMPONENTS WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN DAMAGED BECAUSE OF CAM CHAIN TENSION ADJUSTER FAILURE.

Item Affected: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY

Date Announced: 06/24/1998

Description of Recall: VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MOTORCYCLES. THE GASKET BETWEEN THE FUEL TANK AND THE FUEL PUMP MOUNTING PLATE CAN LOSE ITS ABILITY TO PROVIDE A TIGHT SEAL, ALLOWING FUEL TO DRIP FROM THE GASKET.

Conequence: IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, FUEL LEAKAGE CAN RESULT IN A FIRE.

Action Need To Fix It: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A REDESIGNED FUEL PUMP GASKET ON THESE MOTORCYCLES.
