2015 YAMAHA FZ-09 Recall

Item Affected: STEERING:WHEEL AND HANDLE BAR

Date Announced: 03/31/2017

Description of Recall: Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA (Yamaha) is recalling certain 2015-2017 FJ-09, FZ-09, and XSR900 motorcycles. The lower handlebar holder may loosen due to a painting issue and the inadequate application of the thread-locking agent.

Conequence: If the handlebars are not properly secured to the motorcycle, a loss of vehicle control may result, increasing the risk of a crash.

Action Need To Fix It: Yamaha will notify owners, and dealers will replace the lower handlebar holder, free of charge. The recall began April 13, 2017. Owners may contact Yamaha customer service at 1-800-962-7926. Yamaha's number for this recall is 990114.

2014 YAMAHA FZ09 Recall

Item Affected: EXTERIOR LIGHTING:HEADLIGHTS

Date Announced: 09/10/2014

Description of Recall: Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA (Yamaha) is recalling certain model year 2014 Yamaha FZ09 motorcycles manufactured August 1, 2013, to August 29, 2014. The affected motorcycles may have a headlight harness that is too short and when the handlebars are turned fully to the left or right the harness may break near the coupler or coupler may disconnect from the headlight bulb.

Conequence: If the harness breaks or the coupler detaches from the headlight, the headlight will go out, reducing the rider's visibility and increasing the risk of a crash.

Action Need To Fix It: Yamaha will notify owners, and dealers will install a sub-harness to lengthen the headlight harness, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin on September 22, 2014. Owners may contact Yamaha customer service at 1-800-962-7926.
